"The Pineapple That Taught a Lesson." – Ajahn Chah

"Enjoyment outlives indulgence—real contentment comes through wisdom." – Ajahn Chah
At a time when fruit was rare in the monastery, a single pineapple grew in the garden. The monks and nuns, who had never eaten one before, eagerly watched it ripen, wondering what Ajahn Chah would do. Then, one day, it disappeared. The next morning, it reappeared—carefully cut into 15 equal pieces, one for each monk and nun. Ajahn Chah never condemned enjoyment, but he taught that true contentment comes not through indulgence, but through fairness, gratitude, and letting go.
